Research Problem(s) Studied

Although our health care services are free and easily accessible to the student population, a sizable portion of those students remain unvaccinated or lacking important vaccinations.

Surveying 4 different IU Indianapolis students various questions about vaccines.

Research Instrument

To collect data, I used the interview guidelines from the book, utilized an anonymous survey platform, and chose to interview a variety of students attending the university. While doing research I wanted to understand many distinct aspects of why students would choose to be vaccinated or not, depending on their beliefs, values, and barriers. I asked a variety of the same, guided but open-ended questions to different students in hopes of gaining their opinions and thoughts.

The Results

From what I learned from the research I collected, the results from the students
were pretty similar. Everyone had semi similar views on vaccination status thinking that vaccines are important, but some are not necessary. Many of the students are either fully vaccinated or vaccinated with immunizations that are mandatory. The students had few concerns with vaccinations other than if insurances will cover it and if the vaccines are safe. They all rely on their providers and the news for research and information and do not experience many barriers other than time constraints and insurance coverage. As for the clinic, many students were not aware of the services Campus Health offers and if they were aware because of word of mouth from other students, they have not received care for themselves.
